With Special Gratitude, We Honor and Remember
The Fighting Children's Cancer Foundation would not be able to help kids and families battling pediatric cancer without the support of so many individuals, groups, and communities who are committed to this cause. In a special way we also remember and honor the below board members who gave tirelessly of themselves to shape and grow the Foundation. They were taken from us much too soon, but their memory and impact live on through the Foundation and the countless lives they touched.
Co-Founder, Fighting Children's Cancer Foundation
Vice President, Board of Directors
We are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of one of the co-founders of The Fighting Children’s Cancer Foundation, Steve Figurelli.
For the past nineteen years, Steve has been a dedicated member of the Fighting Children’s Cancer Foundation family. His energy, thoughtfulness, precision, and whole-hearted devotion to kids and families were felt in everything and everyone he touched. Steve co-founded the Foundation back in 1998 and served on the Foundation Board of Directors, as co-chair of the Annual Gala, and he was integrally involved with the Advisory Board, Marketing Committee, and countless efforts devoted to furthering support for children and families fighting pediatric cancer until his passing in April 2016.
Our family of Fighting Children’s Cancer Foundation supporters was blessed to know Steve and witness his dedication to the Foundation for the sole purpose of providing financial assistance to families struggling with pediatric cancer and facing difficult times.
Fighting Children's Cancer Foundation Board of Directors
Howard Honigfeld was a steadfast supporter of the Fighting Children’s Cancer Foundation for many years. In early 2002 Howard completed the first round of his own battle against cancer. Recognizing the emotional and physical toll the fight took on his whole family, he became committed to doing everything he could to support the FCCF mission. As a member of our Board of Directors he worked tirelessly to raise funds, raise awareness, and shape the vision of the Foundation for the years ahead.
Howard understood personally the unique challenges a cancer survivor faces. Along with his family, Howard initiated the idea of a Fighting Children's Cancer Foundation scholarship fund for cancer survivors to further their dreams of achieving higher education. Howard is deeply missed since his passing, but his memory lives on through his family, friends, and through the children and families he continues to impact with this scholarship program.
