Special thanks to the Julie Dance Organization for their wonderful donation of theater tickets to Fighting Children's Cancer Foundation families!  On June 25th nearly 50 children and families attended the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ to see the final showing of Mary Poppins.  It was a chance for families to enjoy special time together without the worries of illness and treatment.  Special thanks as well to La Strada restaurant in Millburn for donating lunch beforehand for those who were able to join in the day!  The Fighting Children's Cancer Foundation is grateful to be able to partner with these amazing groups in the community to help more families.  Thank you for your support!

Special thanks to Maureen Coultas and the Hope's Promise Therapeutic Riding Program in Chester, NJ for hosting Fighting Children’s Cancer Foundation children and families this past weekend! What a wonderful day together to experience horses, equine care, and to enjoy special time with these amazing children and families.  Thank you to all of the volunteers, to Chelsea Hinkle for co-chairing this event, and to all of you who made this FCCF family opportunity possible!  Mom to one of these amazing kids then shared with us the following note:

"I am always thankful for these events and for the organizations that make it happen. Having a sick child changes things in so many ways. When life becomes a sea of doctor appointments and hospital stays these events bring back normalcy to a very chaotic existence. It's a time to meet others facing the same challenges, a time to meet all the wonderful people who are a part of these organizations and dedicated to helping our families, and a time to stop thinking about the next appointment and simply laugh smile and have fun. Thank you for giving that to us. It's always so needed."

August 2013

Read the below letter FCCF received from a family recently helped.  FCCF does not ask for thanks - help is given because it is needed - but this letter reminds all of us why we do what we do and why supporting FCCF and this cause are so important:

Dear FCCF,

I am in receipt of the check from your foundation this week and wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone and tell you how grateful our family is for this kindness and generosity.

This year has been a long battle with my son and continues to be as he was just diagnosed with AVN (avascualar bone necrosis) from all the steroids he has been on for his cancer the past year. For the last 3 weeks he has been having trouble walking and is in a lot of pain in his knees. He was finally excited that he could enjoy summer, but this has put some dents in his hopes. However, his spirits and happiness are still very high at this point.

This money will help our family greatly during this time as bills are piling up, and as I try to complete school by spring 2014. It helps greatly to know that we are not alone, that there are people out there that can relate and do care, and this all makes the journey a little easier.

Sometimes words alone cannot express how grateful someone is for an act of kindness, and this is one of those times. The hearts, caring, and especially prayers are greatly appreciated from you and all of those that help this foundation.

I believe there are ANGELS ALL AROUND US when there are tough times in our lives, we are not here alone, or expected to think we are doing this alone. I hope our family can be a light to others during this time in some way as well.

Again, we express our extreme gratitude for your generosity. I pray that you can continue to be a blessing to many other families as well. Our most sincere thanks again.

Sincerely,

An FCCF family

FCCF thanks schools in the Boonton School District for holding Pajama Day in honor of World Cancer Day! For a small donation students wore PJs to school.
